My 5th Grade class does and Ancestor Report each year. This might be a fun way to do the report! Countries, reasons for leaving, trip over to America, port of entry, how things went once they arrived here and customs still in use today by each family. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Great idea! And you can share the wiki address with family members so they can read about it, too. Imagine a distant great aunt reading about her family and being so proud of the 5th grade nephew or niece. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Not sure exactly what your question is... but will try to reply. If a class has a wiki, the teacher can monitor activity several ways: by going there regularly to "check" student work or by setting up notification via either RSS feed or email to let him/her know when students (or parents?) have made changes. A wiki is more of an "asynchronous" way for people to interact than a "live" discussion space. There are other tools, such as chat spaces or "virtual classrooms" that work better for time when you are "on" at the same time with students. I hope this helps!
